The Milwaukee Area Workforce Funding Alliance (WFA) was formed in 2008 to address the disparate way in which funding for workforce development is allocated in the Milwaukee community.  It incorporated as a non-profit 501c3 organization in 2012.  A consortium of private and public funders of workforce development (including education, job training and placement, and support services), the WFA is dedicated to increasing employment that benefits both workers and employers by focusing on four key strategies:

1.    Partner with employers in growth sectors and local workforce leadership to develop robust, demand driven pipelines for career advancement that result in economic benefits to both employers and workers.

2.    Increase access to sustainable wage career pathways through skill development, closing of skill gaps, and creation of employment opportunities.

3.    Disseminate and support policies for systems change that result in a better-coordinated workforce system, serving low skill workers.

4.    Assure the long-term sustainability of the collaborative by building leadership and resources.
